Mui Doi Easternmost Point Trekking Tour: A Journey to Conquer Your Youth
If you love trekking, the name Mui Doi, Vietnam’s easternmost point, is probably already familiar. It is known as one of the “four extreme points and one peak” that many young adventure seekers dream of conquering at least once. Before you set off, join Tổ Ong Adventure as we explore the Mui Doi Easternmost Point trekking tour and take a closer look at this journey.
A Brief Introduction to Mui Doi – The Easternmost Point
Geographical location:
Mui Doi is located on the Hon Gom Peninsula in Van Phong Bay, near Dam Mon fishing village, Van Thanh Commune, Van Ninh District, Khanh Hoa Province. From here, Nha Trang is about 80km to the south, while Tuy Hoa City in Phu Yen Province is around 35km to the north.
Previously, Dai Lanh Cape, also known as Mui Dien, in Phu Yen Province was considered the easternmost point of mainland Vietnam. Later, when Mui Doi in Khanh Hoa Province was identified, it was recognized as the easternmost point of mainland Vietnam. Accordingly, Mui Doi receives the first sunrise 4 seconds earlier than Dai Lanh Cape.
The Easternmost Marker – A Dream for Young Adventurers
In 2005, Mui Doi Easternmost Point was recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Information and Tourism, now the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, as a national scenic site. The current granite marker at Mui Doi was installed in 2017, replacing the stainless-steel marker placed five years earlier by a group of backpackers on August 4, 2012.

Today, the Easternmost Point trekking tour has become a goal for many young travelers. The journey is exciting, crossing many types of terrain and bringing a sense of challenge, discovery, and pushing past personal limits. Most importantly, the feeling of touching the granite marker and sitting down to watch the sunrise is truly special.
According to many travelers with Easternmost Point trekking experience, you should choose a Mui Doi Easternmost Point trekking tour with a larger group instead of going alone or with too few people, in order to improve safety. You can also join a shared Mui Doi tour to make your Easternmost Point trek as smooth as possible.
When Is the Best Time to Join a Mui Doi Easternmost Point Trekking Tour?
To conquer Mui Doi, the easternmost point, you will pass through an exciting yet demanding route with varied terrain, from mountains and sand dunes to cliffs and dense forest. That is why choosing the right time will help you get the best experience.
Recommended time to go:
According to many travelers who have conquered Mui Doi, the ideal time to join a Mui Doi Easternmost Point trekking tour is from January to May each year. Although this is the dry season in Khanh Hoa, the temperature is not too high and the sun is not too harsh.

Times to avoid:
The period from June to December each year is not recommended for exploring or conquering the Mui Doi trekking tour. From June to August, the heat reaches its peak, with temperatures sometimes rising to 39°C. Trekking across difficult terrain in such hot weather can make the journey much more exhausting.
Meanwhile, September to December is the rainy season, so trekking is not recommended because slippery trails can become very dangerous.
How Do You Get to Mui Doi Easternmost Point?
To reach Mui Doi, the first destination you need to get to is Dam Mon. Travelers from other provinces can travel to Tuy Hoa or Nha Trang, then continue to Dam Mon by coach or motorbike. If you are coming from Saigon, you can choose a coach directly to Dam Mon instead of going through Tuy Hoa or Nha Trang.
From Dam Mon, depending on your goal, you can conquer Mui Doi by walking or by boat. In reality, most young travelers choose the Mui Doi Easternmost Point trekking tour and walk the route themselves instead of taking a boat.
On the return journey, you can also trek back along the same route, but most groups choose to trek on the way in and return by boat. This allows you to experience the exciting Mui Doi trekking route while saving energy, time, and keeping the overall schedule manageable.
2-Day, 1-Night Mui Doi Easternmost Point Trekking Tour Itinerary
The Mui Doi Easternmost Point trekking tour is a demanding and challenging journey, but it is also beautiful and full of rewarding moments. Usually, completing the full route takes about 2 days.
However, if you want to watch the sunrise at Mui Doi, you should stay overnight. After catching the sunrise the next morning, it makes sense to start the journey back to the mainland. Below is the 2-day, 1-night Mui Doi itinerary that Tổ Ong Adventure would like to share with you.
Day 1: Trek from Dam Mon to Bai Rang
You will start trekking from Dam Mon in the morning toward Bai Rang. The route passes through sand-dune terrain, which can be quite difficult to walk on. It takes around 3 hours to cross these high dunes and reach the sea. By midday, the group will rest at the location arranged by the tour.

Here, you will have time to rest and recover before continuing the next 8km. The route still includes sandy terrain, along with narrow, steep dirt and rocky sections that take quite a lot of energy. In return, you will enjoy breathtaking natural scenery, where mountains, forest, sea, and sky seem to blend into one vivid blue landscape, helping you forget some of the fatigue.
At the end of this 8km section, you will arrive at Bai Rang. This place has dreamy blue seawater and long stretches of soft white sand. Swimming in the clear water, enjoying the sea breeze, watching the stars at night, and joining group activities on the beach will become unforgettable memories.
You will rest with the group and continue the Mui Doi Easternmost Point trekking tour the next day.
Day 2: Bai Rang – Mui Doi Easternmost Point
On the second day, to reach Mui Doi in time for sunrise, you will need to wake up and depart very early, while it is still dim. The journey continues over rugged rocky sections. The distance from Bai Rang to Mui Doi is only a few hundred meters, not very far, but it still takes about 1 hour to complete.

Before setting off, prepare gloves, sports shoes with good grip, and a flashlight to reduce the risk of slipping during the climb. After around 1 hour, when you reach the section leading up to the large rock, you will need to use a rope ladder and safety rope.
Set in very rugged terrain, the large rock is more than 6 meters high and sits exposed above the sea, so it is not suitable for those who are afraid of heights. But once you climb up and watch the first sunrise appear, it becomes an incredible reward after a demanding journey.
