Tà Giang Trekking Itinerary: A Chill Route for Young Travelers
On weekends, reward yourself with a trip. You can go anywhere, from blue seas and white sand to towering mountains. If trekking lovers want to immerse themselves in the open space of forests, mountains, and streams, Tà Giang is a great choice. This land promises incredibly chill experiences. Let’s explore the Tà Giang trekking itinerary with Tổ Ong.

1. A Brief Introduction to Tà Giang:
You may have heard the lyric: “Those who love green forests and freedom should go to the mountains to hear the Chapi instrument.” Did you know Tà Giang was the inspiration for musician Y Moan to write this song? Tà Giang, in Khánh Sơn District, Khánh Hòa Province, is the homeland of the Chapi instrument and the Raglai people.
Mother Nature gave Tà Giang a look that is both majestic and dreamy. The land is home to the Khe River, with countless streams flowing through it, supplying water for the forest to grow and for generations of local people to live. Tà Giang also has vast green grasslands surrounded by layered mountains. The local way of life, closely connected with nature, is another reason visitors are drawn here. If you want to return to nature and relax your mind, Tà Giang is a wise choice.
2. Tổ Ong’s Well-Planned Tà Giang Trekking Itinerary:
Tổ Ong will take you to explore Tà Giang over 2 days and 1 night. The total distance is 20km. It is a journey upstream along the Khe River to a metal summit marker at an elevation of 1,000m.
Day 1: Tà Giang Village – 1,000m Camping Hill
From 7:30 in the morning, starting at a small village by the stream, you meet the porter team and get ready to set off. The route mainly follows the stream. The Khe River is cool, clear, and transparent enough to see the bottom. The sound of water flowing feels like a cheerful piece of music. The stream winds through the landscape, is quite shallow, and has uneven rocks along its bed. Trekkers should support one another in stronger water sections. Because the area is near the sea, the wind blows constantly, so be careful whenever crossing the stream.

After passing wooden houses and Raglai farms, you will reach the forest edge. Tà Giang’s trees are tall and rise straight into the blue sky. The stream continues weaving beneath the canopy. Around noon, you stop beside jade-green water. Large, fairly flat rocks surround the Khe River, making them a good place to lie down, rest, and recover for the next section.

Leaving the forest, an immense grassland opens up to welcome you. The grassland has a basin-like shape, lower in the middle and surrounded by mountains. Shoulder-high reeds sway in the wind. A narrow trail divides the field and guides your steps forward.
By around 3:00 in the afternoon, you will reach the camping hill. Join Tổ Ong to set up camp and prepare for a generous BBQ party in this beautiful open space.
Day 2: Camping Hill – Tà Giang Village
On the second day, wake up early to welcome the sunrise. From the dim early morning, mist covers the paths, making the already quiet landscape feel even more peaceful. When sunlight rises and brightens every route, the group returns to the village. The bare hills, green in the rainy season and yellow in the dry season, will accompany you on the way back. Following the old path, crossing the forest and stream again, you will reach Tà Giang Village by the afternoon.

3. A Few Interesting Experiences on the Tà Giang Trip:
Visit the solitary banana tree: This plant lives alone from seed to maturity, flowering and fruiting on its own. Once the bananas ripen and drop seeds, the plant gradually withers, ending a lonely life cycle. In Tà Giang, you can admire not just one, but a whole forest of solitary banana trees. If you visit in the right season, you may even get to taste this banana.
Try cooking bamboo-tube rice: Eating bamboo-tube rice is common, but here you get to cook it yourself. Clean a bamboo tube, add some rice and water, then cook it over the fire, and trekkers will have fragrant bamboo-tube rice. The soft white rice grains with a light bamboo aroma can warm any traveler’s heart.

Soak in the cool water: A Tà Giang trekking journey without stream bathing would be a major miss. The stream water here is clear and blue, especially in the forest, where it is just deep enough for you to swim comfortably. After a long trekking distance, few things feel better than relaxing in cool natural water.
A 2-day, 1-night trekking tour is very suitable for a weekend trip. Especially with the 15km route of the Tà Giang tour that is not too challenging, you will have the chance to let your mind wander through beautiful nature. So don’t hesitate: pack your backpack and trek Tà Giang with Tổ Ong.
