1. Ta Nang – Phan Dung, a relatively gentle spring-opening route
Ta Nang – Phan Dung is one of the most legendary trekking routes among Southern Vietnam’s trekking community. Stretching from Lam Dong to Binh Thuan, it offers remarkably diverse scenery. The route has three main types of terrain: flat plains, gently sloping grasslands, and challenging steep hills. The climate differs clearly between the two ends of the route. The Ta Nang side has the cool highland weather of the Central Highlands, while the Phan Dung side feels dry and hot like the south-central coast.
The total distance reaches 28km. Although it is long, this is not an overly difficult route, and beginners can still try it. A 2-day 1-night tour is suitable for young travelers who want to explore freely.
The most favorable time to trek Ta Nang – Phan Dung is from September to May of the following year. You should limit trekking during the rainy months because the trail becomes muddy and the risk of landslides and flash floods is higher.
