Fansipan, also written as Phan Xi Pang or Phanxipang, is the highest mountain in the three Indochinese countries. It rises to 3,143m and belongs to the Hoang Lien Son range. The “Roof of Indochina” is about 9 km southwest of Sa Pa town, bordering Lao Cai and Lai Chau provinces in northwestern Vietnam. In the local language, the mountain is called “Hua Xi Pan,” meaning a giant precarious rock slab.

Stepping out of Fansipan Station, you will reach Ha Pagoda, also known as Thanh Phong Zen Monastery. Here, you can write a prayer for peace for yourself and your family. Along the 600 steps from Ha Pagoda to Thuong Pagoda and up to Fansipan Peak, you will hear calming meditation music everywhere, creating a sense that the soul is being soothed.

Visitors can also discover finely crafted Buddhist works such as the Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva statue, Bich Van Zen Monastery, the bell tower, and more.
Climbing to conquer Fansipan Peak
Although you can choose another way to reach the summit by cable car, for trekkers who love adventurous conquest, climbing Fansipan Peak is the more fitting choice.
Conquering Fansipan Peak and pushing beyond your limits
The journey to conquer Fansipan can last from 2-7 days, depending on your physical condition. From the beginning of the route until you go deeper into the forest at around 2,000m, the trail is not too difficult. You only need to pay attention to a few steep and slightly slippery sections. The journey becomes harsher when you reach around 3,000m, where the trail is steep and very challenging.Even though the route is difficult, reaching the Roof of Indochina is a worthy reward. Standing on the summit, you can savor the feeling of victory after conquering the vast natural world. Most meaningful of all is the feeling of having pushed beyond your own limits. Suggested reading:
