Introduction to Cat Tien National Park

Cat Tien National Park covers about 82,000 hectares across Binh Phuoc, Dong Nai, and Lam Dong provinces. Beyond its distinctive forest ecosystem, thousands of plant species, and centuries-old giant trees, Cat Tien is also home to one of the largest populations of wild animals in Vietnam. Cat Tien National Park has been recognized by UNESCO as a World Biosphere Reserve.

For many years, Cat Tien National Park has developed wildlife rescue areas and become home to well-known rescue stations that receive strong support and many visitors. These include rescue areas for bears, crocodiles, primates, monkeys, rare birds, wild cats, and more. When visiting Cat Tien National Park, travelers can observe extremely rare wildlife such as freshwater crocodiles, southern yellow-cheeked gibbons, green peafowl, and black-shanked douc langurs.

The mission of Cat Tien’s wildlife rescue stations

The rescue areas are like “hospitals” for wild animals. Their mission is to receive wild animals that have been hunted, caged, transported, or traded illegally. The animals are cared for, treated, and helped to recover their survival instincts. Afterward, individuals that meet the necessary conditions are selected for release back into their natural habitat.

Stories of animal “healing” in Cat Tien National Park

Stories of animal “healing”

Every animal that arrives at the rescue station carries its own story. Langurs hunted in the wild are saved by volunteers. Rare monkeys kept illegally in captivity, forced through harsh training, may have almost lost the ability to survive in nature. A rare bird advertised for sale is bought by someone who wants to save it and brought to Cat Tien. A pangolin wanders into a local home, perhaps after escaping hunters, and is handed over to the park. Bears are “freed” from bile farms, many of them carrying injuries.

Stories of the people who “heal” animals

At Cat Tien National Park, there are not only stories of wildlife, but also stories of the people who care for them day and night. Wildlife conservation is demanding work, filled with countless small tasks from early morning until night, and sometimes injuries from scratches or bites.

Even so, the staff at Cat Tien continue to work with joy and patience year after year. During a visit, you may hear them talk about each animal with deep affection. They are happy to contribute their effort to animal rescue, nature conservation, and the forest itself.

With these “doctors” and rescue staff by their side, wild animals are treated, nurtured, allowed to play, and kept safe. Thanks to careful and loving care, many become lively and very friendly toward people.

The value behind these “healing” stories

Travel to love

In Cat Tien National Park, even just a few hours with the animals can help you feel a deep sense of tenderness. It is the love of mothers, families, friends, and the bond between animals and humans. They cling to their caregivers and show irresistibly endearing behavior.

Young visitors enjoy learning, and when they return to the city, they share real-life knowledge about rare animals with friends. Children grow to love nature more and talk to people around them about protecting animals and the natural world.
