The geographic significance of Bu Gia Map National Park
Bu Gia Map National Park is located in Bu Gia Map District, in the northeast of Binh Phuoc Province. To the east is Dak Nong Province, while to the northwest, Dak Huyt Stream forms part of the boundary between Vietnam and Cambodia. The park covers more than 26,000 hectares and includes a border belt road of about 72km.
Beyond being considered the green lung of Southeast Vietnam, the forest is also an important upstream protection forest. It helps protect water sources for hydropower projects such as Can Don, Srok Phu Mieng, and Thac Mo. As a primary forest with a large and diverse ecosystem in the southern region, Bu Gia Map has a raw, pure beauty shaped by more than 700 plant species, most from the Dipterocarpaceae and legume families, including rare species such as rosewood, red wood, ebony, Chukrasia tabularis, Sindora siamensis, lycopodiophytes, padauk, and Dalbergia cochinchinensis.
