Ta Chi Nhu: a journey to conquer the sky

In the Thai ethnic language, Ta Chi Nhu is also called Phu Song Sung, while the H’Mong call it Chung Chua Nha. At 2,979 m, Ta Chi Nhu is known as the “roof of Yen Bai.” It lies deep within the Hoang Lien Son mountain range, in Tram Tau District, Yen Bai Province.

For experienced trekkers, conquering Ta Chi Nhu is not too difficult. The terrain here is not overly complex, and the distance is fairly short. Even for beginners, reaching Ta Chi Nhu is not too hard. Even so, much of the terrain consists of exposed rocky slopes or low shrubland, and in summer the sun can be harsh, so you still need to take care of your health.

But the flower that made Ta Chi Nhu famous is the nameless one. It is called that because no one knew its name or exactly when it first appeared. What everyone agrees on is its beauty. Its purple color stands out across the sky of Ta Chi Nhu. This striking detail in a rugged land has stayed in the memory of anyone who has seen it in person. The H’Mong call it Chi Pau flower, which means “I don’t know” in the H’Mong language.
